A couple years ago, a group of dedicated VNSF volunteers in Viet Nam were motivated by the poverty they saw in An Giang during our annual student interview trip. On their own, they raised money to put together the Six Turtles Library under the VNSF name. To make more reading spaces available to our scholarship students, we have adopted Inspire Vietnam, which has valuable experience creating libraries in schools.
Under the leadership of Wendy Nguyen, Inspire Vietnam created two much-needed Reading Rooms – Xuan Dieu Library in My Tho and Long Phuoc Library in District 9 of HCMC. A Reading Room project is also underway in Tam Thon Hiep School, a newly-renovated school in the Can Gio district of HCMC. As with all Inspire Vietnam projects, Tam Thon Hiep has strong, trustworthy school leadership that is committed to managing a thriving library. Talks with the librarian, principal and “tổng phụ trách đội” have demonstrated that the school management is very keen on receiving and utilizing our support in the best interest of the children.
The Inspire Vietnam mission, value, and dedication to bringing books and reading space to students are a perfect fit with VNSF and we look forward to helping more kids in Viet Nam achiece success and happiness through education.
